Glasfaser Nordwest selects Compax: Co-development of the S/PRI clearing platform
Vienna/Oldenburg, July 21st, 2026: Glasfaser Nordwest, the joint venture between Telekom Deutschland GmbH and EWE AG, has selected Compax as the provider of a clearing platform based on the S/PRI standard (Supplier/Partner Requisition Interface). Following more than six years of partnering successfully, the joint development of the clearing platform is a natural next step toward better process quality and continued optimization. Through this co-development, two strong industry leaders in the telecommunications sector are joining forces to handle clearing processes more efficiently, transparently, in an automated way, and in accordance with standardized processes.
The jointly developed platform is based on AAX, the Compax BSS solution, and enables full integration with the existing systems of Glasfaser Nordwest and its partners. Drawing on its many years of expertise in fiber-optic network expansion, Glasfaser Nordwest contributes essential know-how in handling clearing cases. This domain knowledge supports the IT specialists at Compax during the technical implementation.
Glasfaser Nordwest has set out to develop a future-proof infrastructure in northwestern Germany by expanding its fiber-optic network. Up to 1.8 million private households and businesses are to receive fiber-optic connections by 2029, regardless of whether they are located in urban or rural areas. The long-standing, proven collaboration, together with the powerful BSS, convinced Glasfaser Nordwest that it had chosen the right partner in Compax for the joint development of the clearing platform.
"Our collaboration with Compax has been marked by trust and professionalism from the very beginning, more than six years ago, so the decision to contribute our expertise to this joint development was a natural next step for us," said Michael Becker, Business Owner Customer Journey Management at Glasfaser Nordwest. Andreas Mayer, Co-CEO of Glasfaser Nordwest, emphasizes the relevance of the clearing platform for the telecommunications industry: "Our goal is to offer our customers real added value with this platform in terms of process quality and automation. Since Compax already provides our BSS stack, we now also benefit from existing system integrations into our core processes."
Björn Mahn, CSO of Compax, expressed enthusiasm about the next level of the partnership with Glasfaser Nordwest: "Glasfaser Nordwest excels in technical and professional process quality in Germany. We can further extend this advantage by now combining our strengths and focusing together on standardized, automated clearing. With the new S/PRI clearing platform, we are creating tangible added value for telecommunications companies and their customers."
The joint development of the clearing platform began in May 2026. In the fall, the new platform will go live with Glasfaser Nordwest's first business cases and business partners. It will then be expanded step by step.
About Glasfaser Nordwest
Glasfaser Nordwest was founded in early 2020 as a joint venture between Telekom Deutschland GmbH and EWE AG. The joint venture, based on an equal-partnership principle, is responsible for self-funded FTTH rollout across large parts of northwestern Germany. Glasfaser Nordwest is responsible for rollout decisions and coordination as well as network operations. This new infrastructure is made available to the entire telecommunications market on a non-discriminatory basis. In addition to Telekom and EWE, the network is already being used by other telecommunications providers today. Further partnerships are expected to follow. This opening of the network to other market participants provides people in northwestern Germany with more freedom in choosing their telecommunications provider.
