Westconnect relies on Compax for BSS Expertise: Joint focus on customer-friendly processes in fiber expansion
Vienna/Essen, February 5th, 2026: Westconnect, the E.ON Group subsidiary for fiber-optic infrastructure, has selected Compax as its BSS (Business Support Systems) provider and IT specialist for its FTTx business. The partnership aims to digitize the complex commercial processes behind fiber-optic network expansion, scale them for large-volume operations, and make them as customer-friendly as possible. Compax provides the technological back end for this expansion with its AAX BSS platform and IT domain experts. By partnering with Compax, Westconnect benefits from more than three decades of experience in the German telecommunications industry.
Westconnect serves rural and urban areas in western Germany with its fiber-optic network. More than 600 municipalities in North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate, Lower Saxony, and Hesse have already been connected or are currently being expanded. To meet the growing demand while maintaining efficient and customer-friendly processes, Westconnect needed the right partner and software. With their unique mix of a feature-rich BSS platform and agile methodology, Compax convinced the Westconnect team.
“With Compax, we have chosen a partner who has its roots in Europe and truly understands our needs as well as the German telecommunications market. This allows us to continue advancing our FTTx expansion and offer an increasing number of customers a top-tier telecommunications service under the E.ON Highspeed brand. We are very much looking forward to the long-term collaboration with Compax,” said Carsten Lagemann, Managing Director of Westconnect.
“For us, it was crucial to find a partner who is not only technologically strong but also shares our way of working. Compax impressed us with its agile approach, high flexibility, and ability to adapt very quickly to our requirements. We were particularly impressed by the team’s deep industry knowledge and strong understanding of processes. From the very beginning, this enabledd us to collaborate as equals and jointly develop pragmatic, scalable solutions for our end-to-end workflows in our FTTx network expansion,” said Sascha Prager, Head of IT and End-to-End Process Management at Westconnect.
Björn Mahn, CSO of Compax, is enthusiastic about the joint project: “We are very impressed by Westconnect’s approach and objectives. With our industry experience in the telco sector and our agile way of working, we are ideally positioned to support their ambitions. Westconnect’s FTTH expansion will strengthen Germany’s position as a business hub in Europe. This is an important mission. Our team is proud to be a part of it and we are now working on our goal with combined efforts.”
The collaboration began in early November 2025, and the first parts of the system will go live this year, delivering tangible added value for Westconnect and its customers.
